America’s Educational Race: Discrimination in Dallas Public Schools

The focus of this 2023 project was the concept of educational gerrymandering, which is a contemporary form of segregation. Educational gerrymandering occurs when school attendance lines are drawn in order to discriminate against certain groups of individuals, often on the basis of race and/or income. This visualization, which utilizes the Dallas public school system as an example, demonstrates how extraneous factors (race, income level, etc.) often unjustly stifle educational attainment opportunities for learners.
